Atlanta—Last month, more than 30 young and emerging designers from across North America gathered in here for Converge—an event meant to help designers better understand their role in becoming a better, more sustainable industry for the future.
Sponsored by global flooring manufacturer Interface, in partnership with Commercial Interior Design Association IIDA, the event focused on pertinent and timely industry topics such as understanding embodied carbon, decoding certifications, realizing young and emerging designers’ role in reshaping the industry as well as offering CEU credits.
Designers spent the day at Interface’s global headquarters, Base Camp, discovering what they need to know as they begin their careers at such an evolutionary moment in time. Group sessions and focused discussions inspired participants to think critically about sustainability efforts such as the reduction of embodied carbon in the built environment as well as the value of being a voice of action for the next generation of commercial interior designers.
