Chicago—IIDA has named Patricia Rotondo, IIDA, as the 2018 Member of the Year. The IIDA Member of the Year award recognizes and honors an IIDA member who has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service through commitment, passion, professionalism and devotion to assisting IIDA as it advances the interior design profession.
“With boundless enthusiasm, Patricia is dedicated to creating a truly global design community that allows everyone to reach the highest levels of design excellence,” said IIDA executive vice president and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “She has spearheaded remarkable efforts as an advocate who mentors young designers from Chicago and throughout North and South America. We’re proud to honor her hard work and passion by naming Patricia the 2018 IIDA Member of the Year.”
As senior principal and director of interior design at Antunovich Associates, Rotondo has been a member of IIDA for more than 15 years. During that time, she has participated in all aspects of volunteering for the organization, including mentoring through the student program, judging numerous design competitions, participating in IIDA roundtables and by becoming a part of the President’s Council in 2015.
Nationally and internationally, Rotondo has worked tirelessly to expand opportunities in the Latino design community, from facilitating communication through translation of IIDA promotional materials in order to reach Spanish-speaking design professionals. Her passion is inspiring her efforts to establish a new IIDA Chapter in Bogotá, Colombia, and her goals exemplify the IIDA mission of creating a more diverse and global community of design professionals.
Rotondo will receive a $7,500 cash award, sponsored by Contract magazine. The award will be presented at the IIDA annual meeting on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. She will also be featured on the IIDA website and Design Matters, the official blog of IIDA.
