HD EXPO

HD Expo 2019 is set for May 15-17, and this year promises design-centric, tech-driven product launches from a host of exhibitors. This year’s introductions will focus on growing trends within the market that help link application with design. Following is a curated selection of the flooring collections set to grace the show floor.

1. Arizona Tile

Reverie Porcelain Collection

“Tile that emits a retro appeal is definitely trending as many designers and homeowners are finding inspiration in vintage styles,” said Angelica Baeza, web and marketing coordinator.
The Reverie porcelain collection compliments this trend and adds a flair of retro nostalgia to any installation.

2. Crossville

Reformation Collection

“One of the most notable current tile design trends centers around new visual interpretations of long-beloved materials,” said Lindsey Waldrep, vice president of marketing at Crossville.
The collection captures a very nuanced concrete appearance in versatile hues. The line is offered in plank formats, breaking rank with the expectation that concrete-look tiles come in squares only.
The company will also launch a terrazzo-look line that takes the style of this material back to the future.

3. Daltile

Elemental Selection

The collection features large format porcelain slabs that help create fewer grout lines for a more seamless appearance in both glossy and matte finishes. The line can help create drama with striking vein patterns or infuse tranquility with subtle marbling designs. By combining the look of natural stone with the value and ease of porcelain, elemental selection aims to reinvent classic décor.

4. Durkan

Prizefighter

“We are seeing an increase in the use of LVT in guest room spaces,” said Elizabeth Bonner, creative design director. “This challenged us to create products that could provide the desired look but also solve the acoustics challenge.”
Prizefighter was created specifically for that purpose. Available in a 7 x 48 plank format across eight colorways in a click installation, Prizefighter boasts a 6.2mm thickness, complete with an M-Force enhanced urethane finish and 20 mil commercial wear layer for superior durability. Additionally, the collection is Floorscore certified.

5. Emser

Hollywood

“In the hospitality industry… customizable products that help create one-of-a-kind spaces are essential,” said Crista Tekstra, senior brand manager. “This translates into standard tile collections that can be installed in myriad ways.”
Hollywood allows designers to update and customize a classic wood look with large-format tile planks that can be installed in either traditional offset patterns or herringbone compilations.

6. Fiandre

Maximum Marmi: Azul Macaubas

The porcelain collection is inspired by sophisticated and rare marble varieties. Azul Macaubas, new to the collection, features extraordinary veins in delicate colors ranging from white to azure blue. Streaks of various intensities with splashes of gold and beige lend a natural appearance, both in the satin finishing as well as in the polished, creating a charming play of light and color effects.

7. Interface

The Luxcierge Process

Interface will showcase products that feature its custom design process, Luxcierge. “This collaborative process between our designers and the hotel designer allows for the opportunity to develop unique patterns that lean on current trends such as biophilia or geometry while aligning the design with their overall vision,” said Cindy Kaufman, director of marketing for hospitality.
Apart from biophilia playing an important role, Kaufman said there’s a change in aesthetics from soft tones and rich textures to geometric patterns, saturated colors and bold black outlines.

8. Karndean

LooseLay Longboard

“New visuals within Looselay Longboard explore the effect of weathering beyond what happens when wood is exposed to the elements,” said Larry Browder, chief sales & marketing officer, Karndean designflooring. “Cross-sawn patterns skip through the boards, giving the illusion that burlap has been worn directly onto the planks.”
Due to these planks’ 59-inch length and loose lay application, this collection is ideal for overnight retrofits and projects that require a speedy turnaround.

9. MSI

Everlife LVT: Cyrus

Known for its expertise in tile and stone, MSI has leveraged its resources and know-how to develop this LVT collection with the styling needs of the A&D community in mind. The Cyrus line offers warm beige and brown tones complete with dark knots and graining for an authentic reclaimed wood appearance. The 7 x 48 vinyl wood flooring is 100% waterproof and scratch, stain and dent resistant.

10. NYDREE

Maverick

The hardwood collection utilizes Woodura surface technology, which helps provide outstanding impact and wear resistance. The Woodura technology provides an opportunity to enhance the unique character of wood by combining different wood sheet qualities with powder mixes in different colors. These easily installed floors are suitable for busy lobbies, hotel guest rooms, condominiums, apartments, senior living facilities, corporate office spaces and more.

11. Shaw contract

Gather Portfolio

“Gather Portfolio is a new design narrative for hospitality environments that make an individual as well as a collective impact. It acknowledges the desire for the authentic and the familiar to co-exist with the new and undiscovered,” said John Crews, manager, lifestyle studio for Shaw Contract. The Gather Portfolio carpet collection utilizes eco solution Q solution dyed nylon, a 100% recyclable nylon engineered to reduce soiling while retaining color and appearance. It is Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver and contributes to LEED v4 certification.
