Kährs to focus on six 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals

Kährs, a leading manufacturer and distributor of flooring, has, in line with its sustainability program, decided to adopt and integrate six of the 2030 UN Sustainability Development Goals.

Sweden— Kährs, a leading manufacturer and distributor of flooring, has, in line with its sustainability program, decided to adopt and integrate six of the 2030 UN Sustainability Development Goals: Good health and wellbeing; affordable and clean energy; sustainable cities and communities; responsible consumption and production; climate action; and life on land.

“Kährs ambition is to contribute to a more sustainable society and we have chosen these six SDG goals in areas where we have the most impact,” said Christer Persson, president and CEO of Kährs Group. “We are integrating these goals into our business operations and sustainability plan to further support our commitment to offer products that are healthy, recyclable, perform to the highest standards and based on responsibly sourced materials.”

Ongoing sustainable initiatives include using more sustainable internal transportations. One company goal is to have all internal transports running on fossil-free fuel. Aligned with the goal of affordable and clean energy, the company will continue its efforts in reducing energy use and increase the amount of energy from renewable sources. Another goal is to secure sustainable sourcing of its raw materials and products.

“Our sustainability program characterizes all parts of who we are and what we do. We are taking responsibility to minimize our environmental footprint by utilizing innovative, sustainable solutions and actions,” said Bruce Uhler, sustainability manager at Kährs.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals was adopted by all UN’s member states in 2015. All signatories decided together to achieve a social, environmental and economically sustainable development.
